Periodontitis (inflammation of the gums surrounding the teeth causing bone loss) is caused by a bacterial infection that is transmissible between people and within the same person (from one area of the mouth to another). Studies have shown that in situations where the inflammation and bacterial load is severe, a combination of localised cleaning measures, topical antibiotics and systemic antibiotics are needed to effectively control this disease. We use a meticulous program to incorporate all of these treatment modalities and provide the ideal environment for restoring good gum health.
