The health of your gums and the bone surrounding your teeth are critical to ensure not only that you keep your teeth for a lifetime, but that they look and function their best. Gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) appears as red, swollen gums that bleed easily and often a give rise to bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth. It is however reversible with appropriate care. Unfortunately, if gingivitis isĀ left untreated, it often progresses to irreversible bone loss (periodontitis). This in turn leads to the gums shrinking back to expose root surfaces and loosening of the teeth, along with increasing difficulty to clean them effectively at home.
There is also a rapidly growing body of evidence connecting gum health to general health including diabetes, heart disease and other inflammatory and immune-mediated conditions. Although this is not new, there have been major developments in the way we treat these conditions.
At Anglesea Clinic Dental Care we have invested heavily in the most effective and gentle techniques available today. Kara is our resident hygienist and has consistently shown our patients that your teeth can look great and feel amazingly clean with little or no discomfort.
